Raining.....and Raining... and Oh! Still Raining...August 4, 2013

August 4, 2013

Hello everyone!

I'm super excited for this month because we now have...... 2 official baptism dates!!! Wooo hoooo! August is going to be a great month! And hopefully, we will have two families baptized next month.

I want to tell you about one of my investigators getting baptized. His name is Jason Sauro. He speaks Tagalog, so our lessons are in English. Anyway, he is 22, and lives with some family who are really active members in our branch. He took the lessons when he was 18, then decided he didn't want to stop drinking and partying. He went to school in Manila, and then transferred to a school here. Yesterday, we were teaching, and I asked him how he felt about church (because he came yesterday! ) And he said, "I like the church. I like that Jesus is giving me this second chance to go to the Celestial Kingdom." Miracles do happen.

I love the people I'm teaching. We have more investigators than we can handle. We have 28 investigators now. We are super busy. But, the ones that are really progressing are the ones that we bring members to teach with, and referrals! I have a testimony that it isn't really the missionaries' jobs to convert these people. It's the spirit, and the ward/branch.

Something happened the other day that kind of made me sad. We were working with this lady in our branch, because she said she would come with us to teach this lady that she knows. The appointment ended up falling through, because the people weren't home. So, we decided to go back to her house to teach her son, who is a recent convert. On the way, we passed a TON of people she knew. She said this to me, "Oh no, now everyone will know that I'm Mormon."

"What's wrong with that? That's a good thing," said Sister Bingham

"I don't want them to make fun of me."

"Maybe they think you are more cool because you know Americans," Sister Bingham said jokingly,

"ha....ha... sure..." she replied.

I was really sad. I'm sure that she knows a lot of people who are ready for the gospel that won't get it because she's afraid of them rejecting her. I found a really cool scripture about that: MSH 5:13,15

Look it up! Ready... now! Ok, I like this because it's so true. How will we ever come to be closer to the Lord if we are never willing to serve him.

Missionary work isn't really hard. It's just caring enough about your loved ones to help them get to the Celestial kingdom. I challenge all of you to have no fear. My challenge to you this week is to make a list of all the nonmembers/inactive people you know. And, pray about them. Ask the Lord who is ready to hear the gospel. I promise if you sincerely love these people, you will want to help them come into the fold of God.

Well, This week has been really busy, and next week will not be any different. I love missionary work! Really, it brings me so much joy and happiness every single day. I see miracles, and blessings, and my favorite thing is to watch people realize how much God loves them by teaching them about the gospel.

Have a good week everyone! I love you!

Mahal Kita,

Sister Bingham
