Mid Mission Crisis--October 27, 2013‏

October 27, 2013

Hello all,

The cutest thing happened last Monday at an FHE. We had planned with the branch president to have family night at his house. They invited 5 nonmember families, so we were super excited! The day before, me and my companion taught primary. We taught a missionary lesson and practiced with them how to invite their friends to church. It was adorable! So, at the FHE, none of the families ended up going, but L., the president's daughter, who is 10 years old brought 4 of her friends to family night. It was so sweet. She said, "Sisters! I'm a good missionary! I brought my friends to family night!" I taught the lesson, and one of her friends was super afraid of me because I'm white... but it was a cute lesson. I love how cute and sweet Lalaina's example is. It really isn't hard to help others come to the gospel. We met with one of her friends' parents, and we are going to teach them this week.

President Brigham Young said: There is neither a man or a woman in this church who is not on a mission, That mission will last as long as they live. And it is to do good, to promote righteousness, to teach the principles of truth, and to prevail upon them selves and everybody around them, to live those principles that may cause us to gain eternal life."

Every member a missionary! I love it! I'm so impressed with the branch here. I've been here 2 and a half weeks, and the members have given us 16 referrals in that time. The people here love the gospel and are always willing to share it. It's so great! It's good because all of our progressing investigators moved suddenly last week. Michelle, who had a baptismal date moved to Cebu to work. And a couple other people who all came to church the week before moved as well....

Confession: I am not perfect. I want to talk a little bit today about weaknesses. Since I've been on my mission, I am finding weaknesses in myself that I've never seen before. Which makes sense because I've never been on a mission before. But I was reading about weaknesses in Ether today and it was a scripture I had read so many times before, but it struck me with a new intensity today. It says that if, "men come unto me, I will show them their weaknesses."

As to say, if we are progressing, we might feel down about ourselves every once in a while. I recognized that probably one of my biggest weaknesses is diligence. Before my mission, if I got overwhelmed, I think I had the tendency to just give up half way. Fortunately, because of the atonement, I am able to be working on this weakness of mine. After a kind of frustrating day I had a really really long talk with my Father in Heaven. And I realized that when we trust the Lord, and move forward, and keep working hard, we can do anything.

MSH 4:27 talks about not running faster than we have strength... but we still need to be running. For me, I realized that I haven't been running fast enough the past few weeks because I have been absorbed in my problems and adjustments. But, I love that when we come closer to the Lord, he will help us progress by showing us how we need to progress. In Ether it says that If we are humble, and have faith, our weaknesses will become strengths.

I love this quote about missions from Gordon B. Hinckley: "Do your best, your very very best. Say your prayers. Work hard. And leave the harvest to the Lord."

I know that when we do our best to bring souls unto Christ, he will help us. This is His work, too. We are never alone.

Thank you for all of your prayers, and all of your love and support.

Love forever,

Sister Bingham
