Hello everyone!
The weirdest thing happened to us this week! We have an investigator who owns a clothing store in the city, Maricel, so we teach her there. We taught another girl that works there too for this lesson, her name is Linda. The front is like a covered patio thing, with benches and stuff, so that's where we teach. We were near the end teaching the Plan of Salvation and all of a sudden this crazy druggy guy with no shoes on and dreadlocks runs up to us. He stood like right behind me and he was yelling weird things in Tagalog. This is what happened (also, there was like a bag of like rolls on the table):
"Don't give him the bread!!!" cried Maricel frantically
"He won't go away unless I do it!!!" Exclaimed Linda.
"Ugh! Just ignore him, he might go away!" Said Maricel.
"Waaaaah!" said Linda.
Linda then handed over a couple rolls, and the man left. Me and my companion were looking at Maricel like, "What the selfish??"
"He's the crazy choosy guy! When he doesn't like something, he throws it back!"
Suddenly! a couple rolls wiz past my face and hit the wall. Me and my compie just looked at each other and started laughing.
"See! I told you! He's the crazy choosy guy! If you give bread, he don't like so he throws it back! He only likes pizza and hamburgers! If you give him water, he throws it in your face! He only likes Coke and Orange soda. If you give him one peso, he throws it at you! He only likes 5 pesos and 10 pesos. He's the crazy choosy guy!"
It was interesting. I learned a really valuable lesson this week. Last week I was feeling kind of frustrated, and sad. I was working really hard, so I couldn't think of why. We had a zone training, and we talked about being exactly obedient. I realized that me and my companion were being "mostly obedient," Like we were following all the rules... just not to a T. I realized that when we are exactly obedient to the commandments of God, we will have a fullness of joy. Since then, I have changed my ways, and am more self disciplined. I testify that even the seemingly unimportant commandments are super important. Sometimes, we don't know why we have to obey certain rules, but I know that all of the commandments and "suggestions" from the prophets will keep us safe and happy!
If we only keep some commandments and not all, we are being like the crazy choosy guy. We can't pick and choose what to obey and follow. I know that following and obeying brings a fullness of joy and peace to our lives.
This week is transfer week! and general conference!! I feel like I will have a lot more to talk about next week.
I hope this e-mail finds all of you safe and happy! I love you all! Thanks for the prayers and support!
Gugma,
Sister Bingham
