Well, this week has been pretty eventful!
There was an earthquake!
And we had a cool church tour, 7 investigators came to church, and I feel like we are finding so many super prepared people to teach right now.
Probably my favorite ones (I super shouldn't have favorites...) are Michelle and Mary Kristy. They live with their parents. We found them when we were talking to one of the members on the street and a guy just came up to us and started listening to us. We got his information and taught his family the next day. The interesting thing is that he super isn't interested in our message, but his two daughters, who are 19 and 17 have already committed to baptism, said they feel the Book of Mormon is true, and have already come to church. what?! They are soooooooooo cool! I love them! It's sad because their mom has terrible depression due to some interesting family situation that they have. So, the two girls had to drop out of school last year to take care of their mom. When we taught the second lesson, we were talking about repentance and committed them to baptism. Michelle said, "willing ko!" (I'm willing) and she started crying and told us she felt so peace in her whole body. Oh, they also speak perfect English and Waray-Waray, the two languages I know!
Another investigator I'm excited about is Richard. He is 21 and he came to our church tour. We actually haven't had the chance to teach him yet, because our member bailed out on us that was going to work with us, so we couldn't teach him. But, he came to church yesterday! It was so great! He also speaks really really good English.
I feel so blessed and so grateful this week that even though I don't really know Cebuano, The Lord is placing the only people in this city that know Waray-Waray in my path. It's really cool to me that the Lord cares so much about his children.
Sister Pongyan, my trainer, and I had exchanges this week. It was so good! She was telling me about all the people that ended up getting baptized that we either found, put on our potential contact list, or started teaching. The coolest one is we taught this motor driver 3 weeks before I transferred the first lesson. He had a crazy schedule so we didn't really end up teaching him again. But, I guess the elders that took that half of our area after it got split went back. It turned out that the man died suddenly from a heart attack. But, now, his whole family (who didn't want to listen to us) is now baptized and really active. And Some of Rolly's friends got baptized! He's such a cute little missionary already! And, a lady that I had never met before got baptized. She came up to the missionaries after I left and wanted them to teach her because of the, "cute American girl that always said Hi to me that was always happy."
My mind was blown. Mostly because I didn't really feel like I did a lot in Catbalogan. But, it turns out that I unknowingly prepared a lot of people to receive the gospel. Just because the only thing I knew how to say was Hi!
I think sometimes it's really easy for us to focus on all the bad things about life, but the Lord can use us as instruments even when we don't know it. It's so important to see all the good in life, and to realize all the good we have already done, so that we have the enthusiasm to keep going.
I know that this church is true, and I know that it really really really truly blesses and changes lives.
Weekly Challenge: Have family prayer every single day this week! I know that if you do so, your homes will be more peace full and your faith will get stronger.
Love forever,
Sister Bingham
