Hello people of America,
Some super eventful things happened this week! I FINALLY ate balut!!! wooo!! I'm officially Filipina now. And I really liked it. I thought it was good! It had a beak and everything. yay! haha
One of the coolest things happened that basically made my whole week! We were teaching our investigator, Jason, and I asked him how he knew the Book of Mormon was true. He said, "Sister Bingham. It's very true. I know it's true. I love it." He lives with some of his extended family that are members, and now he makes his cousin, Orlan read the Book of Mormon every night too. It's so cool to see people change because of the gospel. Last week, he had a lot of questions about how the Book of Mormon could be true. He was asking where the proof was... etc. And now, He knows! yay! He's getting baptized on September 7. Along with Jonas (his got pushed again) and Myla. It should be a great day!
We have a billion investigators and potential investigators. When I came to Calbayog, we had 1 investigator. Now, we have 28 Investigators, and around 45 potential investigators. They are splitting my area next transfer (in two weeks) because we have more people than we can handle right now. It will be good when the new sisters come, because they can help these people progress as well.
In church yesterday, we decided to go to YW class. We were sitting by our investigator and some beehives were sitting behind us. One of the girls started playing with my hair. After a while, they started doing something other than playing with it. I asked what they were doing. Our investigator, Myla, said, "It's ok Sister, we are just getting the lice out. You have a lot." Guess it didn't really go away forever.... sigh... Oh well, they actually did get a lot of it out. Lice isn't a super huge deal here like it is in America. so, that's good.
We were talking to this girl last night, and suddenly, a group of men come up to us. One of them starts talking to me. He is speaking English, but clearly drunk. We have a short conversation about America, because he said he was from San Fran. Then, he said, "Mrs. Bingham, I reeeeeeaaalllllyyy like the way you speak Waray." I then turned around and walked away. My companion followed me. hahaha that was our interesting experience for the week.
With Jonas' baptism, it was supposed to be this week, but there were a few problems. We didn't see him for a couple days, so we didn't have time to finish all of the lessons, and we felt strongly that he wasn't quite ready yet. So, he's waiting until September 7th. I'm really grateful for his patience with us. He speaks a lot of Tagalog, so I don't understand him a lot sometimes. And, this is the second time his date has been moved. After a lesson about enduring to the end he said, "It's ok sisters. I'm a champion. I will get through this trial." haha He's great.
That's about all that happened this week. Lot's of fiestas going on, so we have gotten punted a lot because no one is home. But, we are looking forward to a branch FHE this week, and some cool appointments and new investigators.
Thanks for all of your love, and support. I am so grateful to have all of you in America praying for me. If you want, you can pray that my hair will stop falling out... and that my lice will go away forever!
Lots of love,
Sister Bingham
p.s. Feed the missionaries. It's nice for them, and it brings a lot of blessings! :)
